Lucia - The success

Lucia  has collected 56 lakhs in he opening weekend which is one of the best box-office collections for an independent film recently. Ship of Theseus previously had collected 25.89 lakh in the opening weekend.

Lucia was made on a budget of 75 lakhs approximately out of which 51 Lakhs were raised through crowd-funding on social media in 2012. The film has been released in theaters through PVR Director’s Rare.

The film  is running on 60 screens in Karnataka. It has been released on 13 screens outside the state.

Kannada language television channel Udaya TV bought the satellite rights of the film for 95 Lakhs.

So far it is finding a great success..

Lucia has had a wonderful  release. It has been running full house in all theaters all cross the country.

Lucia Kannada - A crowd funded movie by Pawan Kumar

Lucia is a crowd funded movie with budding actors and technicians. Lucia in Italian means light, true to its name it has already shown light to many budding artists and technicians. The trailers and songs of lucia are out in the public domain. If you look at any of the trailers or the songs, you would never feel that it is done by amateurs. Its thoroughly with a great sense of perfection. Pawan Kumar has done a great job being a mentor, director, PR and much more. In true sense he is the captain of lucia, steering the ship to its release. This movie in itself is a journey against all odds. Newbies taking on old hats and trying to outsmart them in their own backyard. A river has flowing energy as fresh water replaces existing water. For everything, new ideas should always drive out the old and tested ideas. Thats when you move towards perfection. With odds against you you will find new avenues which you would never have thought before. The journey of lucia is similar. Kannada films are at a juncture where stale, tested ideas trump over fresh ideas. Thats where there is stagnation. Would lucia show light to kannada films. Infact its the whole of indian film industry that lacks innovation. Remember Russel Peters saying this in one of his NDTV interviews.

Lets watch and see. Time will be the judge.

Lucia movie is scheduled to release in multiple cities across India. For Kannada movies this is a rare occasion and first of this kind. Lucia will have english sub titles.









PVR Viewers in Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, NCR area, Pune, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Surat, Cochin and Hyderabad will get to see Lucia on Sep 6th.

Pawan Kumar had his directorial debut with Lifu Istene, a dram-comedy movie in 2011. The movie got good reviews from critics and also earned well in the box office. It had Diganth, Sindhu Loknath and Samyukta Horanadu in lead roles. Melodious lyrics penned by Yograj Bhatt and Jayanth Kaykini and music composed by Mano Murthy. Audience had a chance to pre-order lucia to watch online from home talkies. Pre-order was closed on Aug 15th. There were about 1200+ preorders for the movie. Around 15 lakhs were collected as part of pre-orders.
